Dominic Daniel Daly was appointed surveyor for the Native States in 1875, by the Governor of the Straits Settlements, Sir Andrew Clarke. He was one of the first surveyors to work inland from the coast and describes his work in this paper which was read before the Royal Geographical Society in May, 1882. The maps are Daly's 1877 Map of the northern part of Perak, and his Map of the Malay Peninsula.
